Bedroom Storage Tips

12 April 2009 2 Comments

Today’s guest post is from our newest sponsor, BedroomFurniture.com. Often our bedrooms are the last place we organize. But a clutter-free bedroom can be such a retreat at the end of a busy day. Sure, organizing the “public” spaces in your home is essential, but don’t neglect your bedrooms, or yourself. Everyone deserves a calm and peaceful place to rest and re-engergize.

A cluttered home can only add to the stress of your daily life and having a clean home will help keep you feeling better and more relaxed. The problem is that many people are on a budget now-a-days and buying expensive new storage furniture is not really an option. If you use a little creativity however, then you can come up with some great money saving ideas to help stay organized while still getting the most out of every last penny.

Stylish bookcase headboards give you a place to store your books and other ornaments above your bed. They are a great way to utilize space in your bedroom that is otherwise unused. The problem is that bookcase headboards can be expensive. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars on a new headboard, why not create some shelving solutions of your own for a fraction of the cost?

Lightweight and stylish shelving options are becoming increasingly popular due to their low cost, easy installation, and stylish ornate design. These shelves give the appearance of traditional hardwood shelving, but are constructed of lightweight plastic while still offering sufficient support. In order to install these shelves over your bed, all you need is a drill and a screwdriver. Simply find a wall stud, drill a starter hold for your screws and hang your shelving like a frame on the wall. While the shelves are light weight, they have metal interior brackets for added strength and support. These shelves can be found in almost any hardware or home goods store and depending on the size you choose may be as little as $10!
