Product Review: Pursekeeper

26 July 2009 One Comment

From time to time on Virtually Organized, I provide product reviews of various organizing products and services I come across.  These reviews are my opinions and are solely for the information and convenience of my readers.  Such use does not constitute an official endorsement or approval.

Recently the folks from Gutzees TM Home Trends sent me a PurseKeeper, a storage solution for handbags, to try out and review.

Description:

Each PurseKeeper comes as a set of two storage components: the Purse Stuffer and the clear vinyl storage bag. The PurseKeeper comes in small, medium, and large so you are able to safely store your small clutches up to your over-sized handbags. The clear vinyl bag has side vents for air flow. The Stuffer is designed with an opening in the back so you can remove or add stuffing if needed (see below).

Basically, when you go to store a purse, you place the Purse Stuffer inside. You then place the purse in the clear vinyl storage bag to protect your purse from dust, scratches and other damage.

Benefits:

The Pursekeeper can protect and extend the lives of your favorite handbags by keeping them dust-free. The included purse stuffer helps you maintain the shape of your purse during storage. And the see-through vinyl storage bag allows you to see what you own while it is on your shelf, which the company says is an advantage over storing your items in cloth drawstring storage bags.

The beauty of the clear storage bag is that it can also be used to store any type of accessory: belts, scarves, caps, even shoes. (Any item that has multiple purposes gets a thumbs up from me.)

Where Can I Get One?

The PurseKeeper is available online from the Bed Bath and Beyond. (The small PurseKeeper is $14.99,  medium is $19.99, and the large is $29.99).

To Buy or Not To Buy?

This is a great purse storage solution for women who invest in high-end designer bags. If you have a large purse collection, it could be a good solution, too. I have to admit, at first I was skeptical. I personally don’t have a large enough collection of purses to need to store many long-term. But, on the other hand, stacking even a few empty purses side by side on a shelf can sometimes result in a droopy mess. The flat bottom of the PurseKeeper helps them stand firmly in place and is definitely a much neater look.

Overall Rating:

I give the PurseKeeper 3 out of 5 stars. My only problems with the system is that for very large purse collections, the price of the PurseKeeper could start to rival the price of the handbags. Additionally, in terms of where to store your purses, this system requires that you have enough shelf or floor space to store your bags. If closet space is at a premium, this may be difficult to find (on the other hand, if you have a high-end purse collection, you may have a high-end and spacious closet, so it might not matter.)

All this aside, it is definitely a well-made product. If you have your own experience with the PurseKeeper, I welcome your reactions and input!

Simply yours,

Debbie

Nice little product, but I can see at least 100 different uses for something like that.
