Great ideas!

Here’s what you need to know:

Decide on your guests. We will provide you with an invitation for you to print and send to your guests.
Invite your best friend, a family member, a co-worker, neighbor or church member. An Organizing Workshop is fun for anyone who wants to get control of the clutter that accumulates in those tough-to-maintain spots. (Tip: You’ll want to invite twice as many guests as you would like to allow for cancellations.)
Send out those invites. We will provide you with a direct link for your guests to register and prepay online. If you have anyone who wants to attend at the last minute, they can pay the night of the workshop, however those who pay in advance have a slightly lower class fee.
The day before your party, it’s a good idea to call each guest to say you look forward to seeing them. (Encourage guests to be on time so they don’t miss a minute of the fun.)

Is there any setup needed?

Yes, we need an area where the hostess and guests can be seated comfortably for the presentation.
A coffee table or card table would be very helpful for the sorting exercise. For the Command Center, the hostess and I could pre-arrange where she would like this set up in her home.
During the night of the workshop, we would all spend a little time in that spot, using the hostess as a real-life, hands-on example.

Should there be snacks?

It’s not necessary, but either way we ask that they be served after the workshop or as guests arrive.

How much does it cost and should guest pay in advance or at the workshop?

Each guest pays $15 to attend if they pay in advance Participants should pay in advance as much as is possible and as timing allows. Click here to pay through Paypal. Someone deciding to come to a workshop at the last minute can pay $20 the night of the workshop.

Can you describe in more detail what each workshop involves?

1. The Ultimate Command Center: Basically, the Command Center is THE go to place for an active family. It’s the calendars, schedules, Family Resource Binder, incoming and outgoing papers, communications. It is a method for controlling those endless paper piles that EVERY family deals with. Sometimes it includes the family “Launch Pad,” (which tends to be the “dumping ground” in many households as everyone comes and goes everyday). Sometimes it is the Mom’s home office. We will show you how to adapt our general ideas to your specific household needs and functions. 2. The Organized Kitchen: Do you like to cook, but dislike your kitchen’s current state of organization? If your household is like most, the kitchen is the hub of the home. It can also be the most disorganized space in your house. This workshop will show you how to organize your cabinets and pantry for maximum efficiency and increased productivity. Whether you are a complex “foodie” or a wiz with the microwave, after taking this class, you will have an organized kitchen to enjoy with your family and brag about to your friends! 3. Operation Home Office Overhaul: If you work from home, an organized work space is critical to the success of your business. If your home office is devoted to running your family, your household’s efficiency depends on an organized space. This workshop will give you ideas and suggestions for an organized home office whether you have an entire room devoted to working, or a small nook in your kitchen or other multi-function area. 4. Organizing for the Holidays: Do the holidays stress you out? This class will help you sail through the month of December in organized bliss! We’ll discuss time-saving strategies, ways to simplify your schedule and to-do list, and planning ideas that you can use year after year. This class can be held any time during the year, but is usually booked throughout the fall.

Do you sell products?

I don’t have my own products to sell or promote (actually, I really enjoy creating organized spaces by re-using or re-purposing items my clients already own). However, when products ARE needed for a project I have various sources that I like to buy from. Most of my favorites also give me professional discounts. I in turn pass these discounts on to my clients (I never mark up products and I always look for the best values. I want my clients to know that if I suggest a product, it is something I truly believe will help with the space, and it is not a way to increase profits.) If you want high-end, I have resources. If you want budget, I can get you that, too!

How long does a workshop last?

The actual learning portion of the workshops is about 1 hour. Since this is a home workshop, be sure to allow time for chatting, getting settled, coming to a close, etc. Also, with a home class, we have the opportunity to do some real-life, hands-on examples and demonstrations, this may add slightly to the length of the class. All together, I do not expect it to last any longer than your typical “home show.”

Would it be one workshop or a series?

Each workshop will be self-contained, so that if you only attend one, you will still receive a complete lesson. However, I will have other workshops for hostesses to choose from, so participants could attend other workshops and continue to receive new and different tips, tricks and ideas.

What does a hostess need to do?

Besides inviting the guests, there isn’t much the hostess needs to do. I will have a conversation with her before the workshop, to determine which workshop she wants to host. I will supply the worksheets, extra pencils, clip boards to help with note-taking.

What do the guests receive?

Workshops include hands-on learning, worksheets and hand-outs all organized in a folder the participant can keep for future reference. We will also allow time for customized discussions so that all of the participants can get some questions answered by a Professional Organizer. Everyone who books a future organizing workshop or customized organizing services the night of your party will receive a free Family Resource Binder ($15 value).

What does the hostess receive?

Just for hosting a class you will receive FREE workshop registration for the evening. In addition, I will help organize your space as a class example, leaving you with some immediate results in your own home. With 10-14 paid guests you will also receive FREE organizing supplies based on the specific workshop you are hosting (valued at $25!). With at least 15 guests you will receive everything above PLUS 30% off a personal and customized one-on-one organizing session with me.
