All my life I have been a perfectionist. I never really looked at it as a bad thing.  Like most moms, I was holding myself up to a ridiculously higher standard than I expected from anyone else in my life. But I took it over-the-top, because it was a standard too high to ever actually reach.  The best I could hope for was to constantly fall short of my goals.  I continued on this path of expecting perfection, but always getting less, for several years.  It was not until I was 35 years old that I had an epiphany about my perfectionistic ways.

Actually, I had breast cancer.
